8/25/2012 - Pit Stops For Pit Bulls: Hendricks county flyer

DANVILLE — In her past line of work as an animal control field officer, Laurie Adams came across the gruesome reality of how humans sometimes treat American Pit Bull Terriers.

She started the Casa Del Toro Pit Bull Education and Rescue 12 years ago. The second annual event is this Saturday when the non-profit group holds the Ride to Rescue festival and motorcycle ride.

The goal is to end animal fighting in Indiana and to rescue abused and neglected Pit Bulls in the state.

8/27/2012 - New Animal Welfare Facility Now Open: WISHTV

After three years of planning and fundraising, a new animal welfare facility on the city's west side is officially open.

It’s called the IndyHumane Animal Welfare Center, and it opened Monday morning.

It’s a product of the Indianapolis Humane Society, that teamed up with other animal advocacy groups to put a low-cost dog and cat vaccination clinic in a targeted neighborhood.

That neighborhood is near N. Holmes Ave and Michigan on the city’s west side.

8/24/2011 - Pit Bull Rescue Holds Fundraiser: Hendricks County Flyer

Casa Del Toro Pit Bull Education and Rescue will hold the Ride to Rescue to honor Indiana dogs rescued from dog fighting on Aug. 27.

Riders will begin at 10 a.m. at Indy Harley West, 6201 Cambridge Way, Plainfield.

The ride will be accompanied by a festival which will begin at 11 a.m. at Hendricks County Senior Services, 1201 Sycamore Lane, Danville. The event is designed to raise awareness about the impact of animal fighting in Indiana. Activities will include educational booths, dog obedience demonstrations, live music, a dunk tank, animal rescues, food vendors, motorcycle contests, and a live auction/raffle.
